Thanks for visiting, you will find some snapshots of one of the dolls I am currently working on, as she comes along. This particular piece will be an Eclectus parrot lady doll. It is obviously very different than my other art dolls, but I decided to go ahead and have fun and be wild with this one! :) She will be an "anthropomorphic" type of doll- a somewhat charactured parrot head, but with her body standing upright.
This doll, like all of my others, is handsculpted with no molds being used, to become a collectable one of a kind art doll. The head is sculpted of polymer clay (Super Sculpey) over a wire and foil armature for strength.

The body is cloth and batting over wire armature. The feet are sculpted from clay, painted and glossed, with cloth embellishments added. The doll's finished hieght is 17 and a half inches.
This elegant Eclectus lady will be wearing a somewhat Edwardian styled evening gown of brilliant blue-violet that these stunning birds are known for. The dress will have accents of black beadwork and antique lace. I have always thought that the pretty ring of blue feathers around the female Soloman Island Eclectus' eyes looked like bright makeup- so this doll wears "eyeshadow" in that color.
Please stop by and meet my feathered friends!
